Throwing a question out there

perhaps it was the weather, all gray but no rain, but life can feel bleak, like a dead end

curious; what is the purpose of life?
i know it's a common query. i have a couple of cliche answers but i wonder if there is one i have not heard yet

A friend of mine is convinced that the goal of life is the ascension. He gets his information from books by Godrey Ray King. Unveilved Mysteries are the first books by him http://www.sacred-texts.com/eso/um/index.htm

By ascension, I mean ascension as in what Jesus did…. although according to these texts, one is able to ascend now after death if they learn how, to not be reborn again on earth.

According to cynicysm, from wikipedia

1.The goal of life is happiness which is to live in agreement with Nature.
2.Happiness depends on being self-sufficient, and a master of mental attitude.
3.Self-sufficiency is achieved by living a life of Virtue.
4.The road to Virtue is to free oneself from any influence such as wealth, fame, or power, which have no value in Nature.
5.Suffering is caused by false judgments of value, which cause negative emotions and a vicious character.

that means a lot to me. it's like falling in love w. some one and finding out they were not all you thought they would be. that hurts
