was your reason
for making me?
what is your excuse
creating me
looking as I am?
I wish I could change
all of this
this visage you gave me
maybe attract a mate, yet
why did you make me so ugly?
do I have to have a zit

Oh, Ryu, life can be so very hard… don’t despair!
I’m with Nicole, life can be unfair. I just look at these things as challenges. I was born gay, into a highly dysfunctional and abusive family, diagnosed in 2003 with a chronic illness, had 3 terrible lovers and felt lonely, but you know what? … I’m not defined by all that, even while it is a part of my experience. I quit looking at that stuff as the stuff that solely defines me. I know myself as love and loving, pleasant and handsome, healthy and whole … I even bless the things that appear hard and difficult in my life, cause they allow me to see things differently, and to respond differently, and to help others who have been through or who are going through perhaps those same things. Nothing can touch my JOY. I will not despair.
